Sports
Grades
K – 6th
This
program is offered at limited sites.
The
Sports
Program
is a physical education program comprised of football, volleyball,
basketball, soccer and baseball where students are grouped according to
age and ability. Kindergartners and 1st graders will develop and
strengthen their agility, balance and fine and gross motor skills and
learn the basic rules of the games. 2nd through 6th graders will learn
and begin to understand the concept of strategic plays through various
drills and coaching techniques. They will implement what they have
learned in weekly games. All of the students will learn the importance
of sports-manship, teamwork and fair play. Rainy days provide
oppor-tunities for children to learn about the origin of sports and
sports figures both nationally and in our community. A study hall is
incorporated into the Sports
Program allowing students to get
a
head start on their homework. Sports programs will be canceled if a
minimum of 15 students are not enrolled.
Football
Practice
like the pros with our new football
mini-camp. This two-month camp will feature fun drills that will test
your agility, coordination, strength, and speed. Make the game winning
pass, catch, or interception with our simulated game drills and end of
the week scrimmages. Aside from learning the football basics, you will
also learn to create your own plays with your very own play book.
Equally as important, this will be conducted within an environment
filled with good sportsmanship, teamwork, and fair play.
Volleyball
Have
fun learning the fundamentals of this
unique and exciting sport. Fun and engaging drills will emphasize
proper court use and the importance of teamwork and good sportsmanship.
Enhance and challenge your skills with our game-like activities and
end-of-week games.
Basketball
Learn
the basics of dribbling, passing, and
shooting with our fun filled drills and exercises. Test and develop
your defensive and offensive skills with various game-time drills as
well as teamwork and good sportsmanship. Games will consist of either
three on three half-court style basketball or five on five traditional
full court games.
Soccer
Learn
footwork, balance, and coordination as our
exercises focus on total body control. Have fun with our various drills
and soccer obstacle courses that target ball control and field
awareness. Apply and maintain these skills in our end of the week games
and situational drills that will focus on teamwork and fair play.
Baseball
Run,
hit, and throw like a pro with our fun
drills that will teach the baseball fundamentals. Learn the origins of
the game as well as how to play the game with our game–time
drills and exercises. Enhance field awareness, improve hitting ability
and develop base running skills as we learn to play like all-stars!!
